Durga Pujo

I always fancied visiting the colourful pandals, taste delicious & scrumptious dishes, not to forget the mention of macha (fish), watch exuberant performances & dhanuchi nritya performed by ladies on beats of dhakis (drums) to please Goddess Durga that brings the entire city of Kolkata on streets.  Come October, Navratras & people can’t wait any longer for the festivities….  You know it’s time to pick the best from your wardrobe & flaunt off, stay out late at night with your friends, go pandaal hopping, savor mouthwatering dishes… Durga puja aka pujo starts on the fifth day of the Navratras & ends on the tenth day. Being a delhite & ignorant of that fact that pujo is celebrated too on large grandeur & gaiety in the capital of India. With the desire to get a feel of puja, I decided to visit one of the pandaals at Dwarka in Delhi. Apologies I know the first name that must have struck to your minds in CR Park. But I was invited by one of...

Smartphonoholics

Addicted to my smartphone It was around midnight. I was almost done for my activities for the entire day & was about to go for a sound sleep. Knock Knock!!! (And the phone vibrated) Got ping from a friend. Let me connect with my friend on WhatsApp. We kept talking till 1’o clock. Lost in this vivid circle of social network, I decided to log into FB to check latest feeds from my friends. In the meanwhile some of my colleagues recommended me to download one of the newly launched applications on my phone. Isn’t it that I am narrating your story too??? Believe it or not, Smart phones have become part and parcel of our lives. From socialising to shopping, to editing your pictures through various photo editing applications, we cannot think of our lives without smart phones.  We are engrossed in scoring in Candy Crush Saga/Angry Birds, exploring who visited our facebook profile, browsing through online shopping apps without even realising that face to face ak...

Ayurveda- Boom in today's stressful life

Ayurveda-Boom in today’s stressful life Weight loss management, skin treatment, hair treatment, ozone, rejuvenating SPA Wait, Wait, Wait what you are mulling on. Yes it’s all possible now. Various centres have thronged in metropolitans. So folks here I present my views. Well to start with India is the oldest civilization which introduced various herbs. Some of them have medicinal value while some are being used in Indian kitchens that further enhance the nutritional value of our food. But little did we know the benefits of using these herbs in our daily lives. To my curiosity, I visited few ayurvedic clinics to see how they treat people & I was flabbergasted to found that Ayurveda treat diseases in holistic way which means they ...

Verdant India

Welcome to the country whose native’s boasts of belonging to the oldest civilization in the world. Mughal, Armenians, Turks, Arabs, Persians, Mauryas, Portuguese, French & Britishers came but their departure left traces that are indelible. What we are today is assimilation & amalgamation of tits & bits incorporated from their culture into ours which is rich, varied & acknowledged globally. North abounds in flora, fauna, meadows, valleys, picturesque views, architecture while the southernmost part of the country is famous for beaches, backwaters, lagoons & temples. The aroma of tea gardens coming far from east amazes me. The roars of royal tigers coming from mangrove Sunderbans catch my attention. West is famous for Rann of Kutch & Gateway of India. My soul enlightens when I take bath in the sanctified water of river Ganges flowing from mesmerizing Himalayas, the abode of Lord Shiva. The palatial forts of Rajasthan recall the essence of bygone era tha...
